Public Health Analysis: Premature Noncommunicable Diseases in ASEAN
A public health analysis examined the correlation between national financial indicators such as GDP and out-of-pocket (OOP) expenditure and noncommunicable disease (NCDs) mortality rates across Southeast Asia (ASEAN). A comprehensive data processing procedure was performed by cleaning 220 regional healthcare records using Excel's Power Query and Power Pivot, centralizing the data schema in a MySQL database. An interactive dashboard with Power BI's custom 4-Quadrant Performance Matrix visual framework systematically categorized ASEAN countries into three different performance tiers based on financial inputs and health outcomes. From these reliable data-driven insights, an action framework was developed designed to help health policy stakeholders measure the effectiveness of resource allocation and improve resilience to regional systemic shocks.
